Easy Vampire Halloween Gnomes – No Sewing Required!
Last year we made Halloween gnome witches and had several requests to turn them into Halloween vampire gnomes.
Well, we did, complete with a new pattern, and some fun additions. Just like last year, this fun little Halloween project requires no sewing at all. Just a bit of glue from your trusty glue gun and you can have these little vampire gnomes up and done in about 20 minutes flat.
We included a video this year too to show you just how easy they to make.
You can find the pattern download by skipping to the section labeled Step 1.
Easy Gnome Vampires For a Halloween Display
These little guys are not expensive at all to make and take the very basic materials like felt, ribbon, and some crafting fur.
Not at all difficult either. If you can cut out a pattern and use a glue gun you’re golden.
These gnome vampires make a great display around a candy dish, or displayed on a mantle.
Feel free to get crazy with the colors too, we chose red and black because well, thats what I think of when I think of a vampire, but I mean anything goes.
That pipe hat was an addition at the end when we felt the traditional gnome’s hat just didn’t do the project justice, so we went for the steampunk high top hat to give our wee vampires a bit of style.

Materials and Tools Required
No need to spend a lot of money ordering from Amazon or heading to Michales for this project. I’ll add some links just in case you need to order online. If you can, try to find most of your supplies at a local dollar store. You will find most of these materials are easily found kicking around for much less than you would pay to order online.
I used floral craft cones because that is what I could find. You can use paper cones, cardboard cones, or even make your own from thin cardboard.
Materials Required To Make One Vampire Gnome
- One 4 x 11.8-inch floral cone
- Four sheets of black felt (8×12)

- A small package of fake fur (one pack will make several beards so you will have some leftover)
- Small piece of red fabric to make a nose – or a small red pom pom
- 12-inch length of black tulle
- A tiny bit of red paint (nail polish would work if you have some!)
Tools Required
- Stickpins
- Scissors
- Glue gun
- Glue sticks (a handful) See our complete guide on craft glues!
- Small paintbrush

Step 1 – Print the Pattern

Download and print off the pattern onto letter-size paper. In your print options window choose “Actual Size” or “Full Size” if the option is available.
Cut out the pattern and pin it to your black felt. The body of the gnome is a bit too big to print on one sheet of paper, so it is printed in 2 parts. Arrange them on your felt so they line up side by side.
The hat brim has a star shape in the center – cut along these lines as well to make triangle shaped tabs.
Pin the beard template to your fun-fur and cut it out too.
Step 2 – Assemble the Hat
Squeeze a line of glue along the short edge of the hat pipe, and roll it into a tube. Hold it in place until the glue cools.
Add more glue along the top edge of the pipe, and press the top piece in place.
Flip the hat over so open end is pointing up. Put a dab of glue on each of the triangle tabs on the hat brim, then press the tabs into the hat pipe.
Step 3 – Assemble the Felt Gnome
Glue the ‘body’ felt around the bottom half of the cone, then glue the beard onto the felt so that the tip of the beard comes down to the bottom edge of the cone.
Squeeze a ring of glue inside the hat, and pull it down over the gnome’s head.
Step 4 – Gnome Face
You can either use a small red pom-pom for the nose, or make one by wrapping some red fabric around some scrap stuffing or foam. Either way works fine, we just want a small red ball to use for the nose.
Glue the nose in place onto the beard just under the hat brim.
Cut two small triangle teeth out of white craft foam, and glue them in the beard. Part the fur before applying the glue to get the top edge of the foam buried in the fur so you can’t see the edge.
Step 5 – The Cape
Cut a length of red ribbon to match the collar (the small piece) of the cape. Glue it in place to make a red lining.
Cut two more lengths of ribbon to fit the front edges of the bigger piece of the cape, and glue them in place. The entire cape doesn’t need to be lined, since it’s going to be glued to the gnome’s back, and not visible.
Glue the collar in place so that it sticks up and out behind the hat brim. Then glue the cape in place in the gnome’s back, giving the edges a bit of a curl so that you can see the red liner.
Step 6 – Finishing Touches
Wrap a length of black tulle around the hat just above the brim. Tie it in place or use a dab of hot glue to hold it.
Brush a dab of red paint or nail polish on both teeth, and you’re done!
Easy Halloween Decor On A Dime
I love it when readers suggest projects. Our readers always come up with some great ideas and suggestions and this project was a great example.
We had so much fun making these little Halloween vampire gnomes. They look super cute on our table circling and protecting the candy dish with their cute little fangs.
